Information we collect
We may collect information directly from businesses and users who use our Services, as well as information made available to us through third-party platforms that a business chooses to connect to our Services.
- Account and business information. This may include your name, business name, email address, contact details, account settings and information you provide when creating or managing an account.
- Connected social media account information. If you connect an Instagram or other supported account, we may receive account identifiers, usernames, profile information and information necessary to authenticate and operate the connection.
- Messages and conversations. Where you authorise the relevant permissions, we may process messages, conversation content and related metadata sent to or from a connected business account.
- Comments and interactions. We may process comments, replies, reactions and other interactions associated with content managed through a connected account.
- Content and publishing information. Where enabled, we may process posts, captions, media information and other content necessary to provide publishing or content-management features.
- Analytics and usage information. We may collect information about use of the Services, including feature usage, activity logs, API events, error logs, device and browser information, and technical information required to operate and secure the Services.
- Information processed by AI features. If AI-assisted functionality is enabled, message content, comments, business instructions, product information or other relevant content may be processed by AI systems to generate suggested or automated responses, classifications, summaries or other outputs.
We only seek to collect information reasonably necessary to provide, secure and improve our Services.
Information received through Meta and Instagram
When a business connects an Instagram Professional account or another Meta service, information is accessed only through Meta's authorised APIs and according to the permissions granted by the account holder.
Depending on the permissions granted, these may include permissions relating to:
- basic Instagram business account information;
- messages and conversations;
- comments;
- content publishing; and
- other features explicitly authorised by the business.
We do not ask customers to provide us with their Instagram password. Authentication occurs through the login and authorisation mechanisms provided by Meta or Instagram.
How we use information
We may use personal information to provide and operate the Services; connect and manage authorised social media accounts; retrieve and respond to messages and comments; publish content at the direction of the account owner; provide automation and AI-assisted responses; provide analytics and reporting; maintain security and prevent misuse; diagnose technical issues; communicate with customers; improve our Services; comply with legal requirements; and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use information obtained through Meta APIs for purposes prohibited by Meta's Platform Terms, Developer Policies or applicable law.
AI processing
Some features of our Services may use artificial intelligence to analyse messages, comments or information supplied by a business and to generate suggested or automated responses.
AI-generated content may not always be accurate or appropriate. Businesses using automated features remain responsible for configuring, reviewing and supervising their use of those features.
We may use third-party AI or infrastructure providers, which may be located outside New Zealand, to process information where necessary to provide these features. We take reasonable steps to ensure that service providers handle information only for authorised purposes and subject to appropriate confidentiality and security safeguards.
Information belonging to customers of our business users
Businesses may use our Services to interact with their own customers, followers and other Instagram or social-media users.
In these situations, Zintekz may process personal information on behalf of the business that has connected its account. The business remains responsible for ensuring that its collection and use of personal information complies with applicable privacy and consumer laws, including providing any notices or obtaining any permissions that are required.
Where we receive personal information indirectly through a connected business account, we handle that information consistently with applicable privacy requirements and the purposes for which the relevant business has authorised our Services.
Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and maintain security.
Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and the relevant feature.
Where an account or integration is disconnected, we may delete or de-identify associated information unless continued retention is necessary for legal, security, backup or legitimate operational purposes.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security, and users should take appropriate measures to protect their own accounts and credentials.
